The Parish of Sto. Sepulcro, Landayan, San Pedro, Laguna, will soon be bringing out the maiden issue of the parish magazine entitled “Emmanuel”. I am happy to contribute these few words that have been asked of me for the occasion.
The name “Emmanuel”, which literally means “God-with-us”, captures the essence of Our Lord Jesus’ incarnation. When God became man in Christ, truly God came among us, to journey with us, and to accompany us on our way.
Jesus is the God man who is ready not only to console us and help us in our troubles but who is there to assure us that being His friend means happiness in this life and eternal happiness in the life to come.
The people of Landayan know this very well. Their special devotion to “Lolo Uweng” confirms their loyalty, obedience and affection for the God who is Emmanuel.
To Msgr. Jose D. Barrion, the Parish Priest, and to all parishioners and friends of “Lolo Uweng”, I extend my heartfelt best wishes and warmest greetings. May God bless you and enable you to continue to grow in grace and prosper in every way.
